Starting Over

Author: Sam | Filed under: Uncategorized

I am becoming a blank canvas.

The past couple of months there has been a change in me.

Letting go of the past…

Getting back to the basics….

Embracing change….

Becoming who I need to be to move into the next adventure in my life.

It’s been an exciting couple of months and now I believe I am stepping into the creation phase.

I want to create.

I want to help.

I want to be more intentional with what I invest in.

I want to be the best husband and father that I can be.

This is a vague post. I write it more for myself.

The journey begins now.

Dear Mr. James…or King…or King James,
Please decide to play for the New York Knicks. It would really mean a lot to me and I promise that I would even support you by purchasing one of your jerseys.

Sincerely,
A Knicks fan that would like to see them compete again before die.

Weigh-In Week Eight and Nine

Author: Sam | Filed under: Uncategorized

I decided to takemost of last week off from the bloggy blog because of a last second, mini-family vacation.  I am committed to being consistent about blogging, but family comes first.

It’s been a great two weeks for me personally.  I have been eating much healthier than I have in the past.  Sure, I have made a few choices here and there that weren’t the wisest, but for the most part I am doing much better in this department.

In regards to exercise, I haven’t been pushing myself like I should be right now.  I could make a bunch of excuses as to why I am not working out as much as I should, but it’s just an excuse and I need to do a better job of controlling my schedule.

I enjoy writing this weekly update for accountability.  I don”t like that I set goals and then don’t complete them.  This is a way for me to track my progress and push myself.  Exercise/Eating right has to be one of the weaker areas of my life and I am glad that I am working to fix that.  I just need to continue to remember that it all takes time.

Saying all of that, I have lost a total of 3 pounds in two weeks.

I will take the weight loss.  At least I am still moving in the right direction.

This week I need to ramp up the exercise again and continue to make healthier food choices.  It shouldn’t be to hard to get a little sweat going since it’s going to be over 100 degrees all week here.

I have done a few P90x workouts over the last couple of weeks and I am planning on starting that program today.  This should be interesting.

Thanks again for the motivation and for those of you that are trying to improve yourselves as well.

How are all of you doing about exercising/eating healthier?

What areas do you need to improve on?

Are you making progress?

Let’s continue to push one another.

CONFESSIONS WEDNESDAY

Author: Sam | Filed under: Uncategorized

Every Wednesday I share a personal confession of my own and all I ask from you in return is that you leave a comment to share a confession of yours as well. So, here goes…

I struggle to forgive.

I read somewhere last week that we are most like Jesus when we forgive.

I have been challenged by those words.

I can move on. Forget. But do I truly forgive?

Just processing this one today.

How are you doing in the area of forgiveness?

I would love to hear your comments and thoughts.

WEIGH-IN WEEK EIGHT

Author: Sam | Filed under: Uncategorized

I have to make this one a quick one today.

I lost 2 pounds!

It’s not the 4 pounds I needed to average, but I will still take it.

Thinking I might start P90x today.  Am I man enough?

I appreciate all of the people that have been a part of this with me.  I still have a long ways to go and am definitely not slowing down!

I do want to challenge some of you though that started off strong and have already fizzled out. Make this the time that you push through and actually accomplish your goal.  It hasn’t been easy for me and the results haven’t come as fast as I would have liked, but it’s still worth it. Let’s do this together!

So, how have you done this week?

Is today the day you are going to recommit to getting yourself in better shape?

Let’s hear from you!

CONFESSION WEDNESDAYS

Author: Sam | Filed under: Uncategorized

Every Wednesday I share a personal confession of my own and all I ask from you in return is that you leave a comment to share a confession of yours as well. So, here goes…

I am a HUGE fan of the show LOST!

LOST is the best show EVER.

I remember seeing the promo’s for the very first season and being interested.  Plane crashes on an island.  What will the survivors do?  Will they be rescued? Plus, JJ Abrams was involved and I have been a fan of everything he does.

After watching the first episode, it was obvious there was a lot more going on than what I originally thought…and I was hooked!

My wife stopped watching episodes with me during the 2nd season because I would talk through everything that is happening…out loud…during the show.

I really do love this show.

This Sunday will be the big finale.  Who lives? Will they get off the island…again? Will Locke stay crazy?  Will Hurley say dude one more time?

I cannot wait!

I have liked shows before, but never really cared if they were off the air or not.  It will be a little sad to say goodbye to this one.

All I can hope for is a good finale.  A lot of shows have ended poorly.  Hopefully LOST won’t be added to that list.

So, what about you?

Are you a fan of LOST?

If not, has there ever been a show that you watched faithfully?  Were you happy with the finale?

WEIGH-IN WEEK SEVEN

Author: Sam | Filed under: Uncategorized

I have officially hit a wall.

I exercised 5 out of 7 days.  A group of us got together on Saturday and did a P90x Workout.  That was intense!

I ate pretty well.  I could have done better, but I didn’t have a terrible week with food.

Total weight loss for the week 0 pounds.

That sucks!

I haven’t taken the diet portion very serious since doing this weight loss challenge.  At the same time, I have really tried to make smart healthy choices as often as possible.  To not lose any weight this week is a bit discouraging, but I know what I can adjust.  I will up the intensity of my workouts (I have always wanted to say that) and going to actually try to stick to a diet this week.  Hopefully that will be the difference.

I still have a goal of being under 200 pounds by Monday, June 14.  That is now 4 weeks away.  I would have to average nearly 4 pounds a week to make that happen.  That is a lot of weight to lose!

How did you do this week?  Good? Bad?  Let me know!
